To understand Gulf Quota in Indian Engineering Colleges you need to understand DASA and CIWG Schemes and seats reserved under these scheme for NRI Students.
Note: According to the latest update from DASA, from 2021-22 onwards, JEE Rank will be made mandatory for NRI/PIO/OCI Students to be eligible for DASA & CIWG Schemes. Hence, 2020-21 will be the last academic year when SAT 2 scores will be considered for DASA/CIWG Scheme.
DASA / CIWG Quota Seat Calculation:
DASA - Total 2400 seats
15% of the total seats in a college (that accepts DASA Scheme) are reserved for NRI students who apply under DASA Scheme for Engineering Colleges of India. Note, these seats can be claimed by any NRI student across the world.
CIWG - 800 Seats (Approx)
As per the CIWG scheme - 1/3rd of the total DASA Seats (i.e. 5%) are reserved for CIWG Category NRI Students. This means that approx 800 seats can only be claimed by NRI students who are from Gulf Countries.
