Photometry and Geometrical Optics
The optical radiometry or photometry consists of the energy flux associated with optical electromagnetic radiation measurement. The basic elements are flux, luminance, intensity and illumination.
An optical source of radiation emits a luminous flux in potentially any direction of space. For any given direction this flux has an intensity value. A surface located at a specified distance from the source receives an irradiance value that is given.
Geometric optics, or ray optics, is an optics model that defines light propagation with respect to rays. The ray in geometric optics is an approximation useful for approximating the paths along which, under certain conditions, light propagates.
