The supernumerary quota which is allotted by Institutes of India for the Non-Resident Indians (NRI) is known as NRI quota. In few particular schemes (of such Quota), the Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), & Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) can also apply.
Such reputated Institutes may take admissions of NRI Students under either management quota or NRI Quota. In both such cases, fees for the entire course is bit higher than the general students' fees.

The National Institute of Technology (NITs) is open to all type of students. NRI Quota is available in NITs in form of DASA/CIWG. NRI students take JEE Main to get the admission in NITs.
NRIs Quota in CFTIs:
CFTIs are the centrally funded institutions offer the best engineering courses in India The Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) is open to all type Indian and NRI students.
NRI students take JEE Main to get the admission in NITs.
NITs ,CFTIs and other private institutes in India will coordinate the admissions to various undergraduate programs under DASA/CIWG scheme for the year 2020-21.

DASA is known as Direct Admissions of Students Abroad. DASA scheme was introduced by Ministry of Human Resource Development, India (MHRD) for NRIs (Non-Residential Indians)/PIO (Persons of Indian Origin)/OCI (Overseas Citizen of India)/Foreign Nationals who want to take admissions in the premier & reputed Institutes of India.
Admissions will be provided in Undergraduate & PG Programs for Engineering, architecture design, management courses through Scores/Rank obtained in SAT 2/JEE and other entrance exams.

The candidate must be born on or after Oct 1, 1995 if he/she is aiming to apply for DASA 2020-21.
Academics Eligibility For DASA:
Applicant must qualify 12th grade or equivalent grade from Universities recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) & applicants must have successfully completed 3 subjects - Mathematics, Physics & one of the subjects from Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Computer Science or Biology in 11th and 12th grade.
Applicants with the minimum SAT score of 1800 are eligible. Applicants have to submit their 3 SAT Subject Test scores - SAT Physics, SAT Chemistry & SAT Mathematics Level 2 directly to the DASA conducting Institute from the College Board account.
Residential Eligibility For DASA:
All Foreign Nationals residing in any country including India or Indian Nationals studying abroad that fulfilled the above-mentioned admission criteria shall be eligible.
CIWG Scheme For NRI Students
CIWG stands for Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries. CIWG is a scheme generated by the Ministry of India for the children of Indian expatriates in Gulf countries looking for admissions at the premier Indian Institutes through the DASA scheme.

Academics Eligibility For CIWG:
An applicant must have qualified 11th and 12th grade from a foreign school abroad.

Answer: No, IITs do not have a NRI quota. NRI students just like Indian Nationals students, need to clear the cut-off for JEE Advanced, and admission will take place on the basis of their ranks.
