In a series of tweets, Pokhriyal said that in the coming years, candidates would be able to appear in more regional languages for the JEE Main.
He did not describe the number of additional language options to be included or the names to be included. The Minister mentioned, however, that these new languages will be available to students while seeking entry to the State Engineering College, which conducts an entrance exam in the regional language.
"The State Language of States that accept students on the basis of the # JEE(Main) will also be included in this," he further wrote.
As per the latest update JEE Main 2021 is going to be conducted in more other languages, those are Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.
Pokhriyal pointed out that the move is going to prove beneficial as it has "far-reaching consequences." He added that having the mother tongue as a language option in the Engineering Entry Exams would help students better understand and answer questions.
He said, "As Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji pointed out, top-notch countries in the PISA examination use [their] mother tongue as a medium of instruction. The choice of JAB would help students understand the issues better and score higher.
The National Testing Agency ( NTA) is currently conducting the JEE Main in English, Hindi and Gujarati.
The National Eligibility and Entrance Examination (NEET) is the only national entrance test conducted in regional languages. NEET is retained in the languages of Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Tamil , Telugu and Urdu.
